Developing Wind and Solar Energy Projects

Wind and solar energy project development generally follows four phases:

1. Find location and secure permits

At the beginning of a greenfield investment, the primary key factor is to find a location that has sufficient resources to deliver an optimal annual energy production and return on the investment. Typically, this will be in a politically designated wind zone. Wind and solar studies such as production estimations are outsourced to independent verifiers.

European Energy has a strong network of project developers in 12 European countries,  which gives us access to many interesting sites in each country.

The next step is to secure
• land lease
• cable ways
• access to the public grid
• building permit
• environmental impact approval
• power purchase agreement with local electricity company

2. Establish SPV and define suppliers

3. Financing

4. Construction
